LABORATORY:

(Nitrogen Purity 95% – 99.5%)

Nitrogen gas is widely used in laboratory applications, reaching across a variety of industries including pharmaceutical, bio-tech, healthcare, chemical and food & beverage.

Most commonly, nitrogen is used in an analytical technique called chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Depending on which ionization method is utilized, nitrogen gas can be used in electrospray Ionization detectors (ESI), atmospheric pressure ionization detectors (API) and also as a curtain gas to assist with solvent ion and sample separation.

Laboratories will also use nitrogen gas to positively pressurize inert atmosphere glove boxes, also referred to as dry boxes. Lowering the oxygen concentration of the environment will eliminate the effects of oxidation and sample degradation. The glove box is positively pressurized to block any potential contaminants from entering the chamber.
